Can I record a DVD from a Blu-ray?

How can I record to DVD; my TV only has HDMI out?

• My Samsung LN46A650 LCD TV is the hub of my system. The cable, computer, Bluray and DVD player all plug directly into the TV; there is no cable converter box. The TV has an HDMI output and audio outputs but no analog video outputs. Last week, I bought a DVD recorder and returned it to the store because it is totally useless. The recorder has an HDMI output, but all the inputs are analog. I've been researching the problem on the net, and it seems they don't make recording devices with HDMI inputs. There are some HDMI to svideo converters, but they cost twice as much as a DVD recorder. I'm not really interested in recording any of the krap that comes over the cable. Mainly, I just want to record streamed video from the internet. I downloaded Debut Video Capture software, which works okay for about 40 seconds before using up all of my computer's memory and crashing the system. (I'm running Vista at 3.2 GHz with 2 Gigs of ram and 4 Gigs of flash-drive cache.) My computer's monitor (D-sub) and audio outputs are connected to the TV, and it doesn't have any other outputs. Any suggestions?

  Your TV doesn't have "HDMI outputs" as you indicate. It might output a control signal but it takes audio and video in. I can't say that I have seen blu-ray recorders yet in the US market for other than computers (but I have not really looked either) but I would strongly suspect when they come out (soon), they will have HDMI inputs.
