What is the USB port on my sky+ box for?

I just got sky+hd and noticed the box has a usb port on it, what is this for? and does it work?

  • Just wondered, no info in the manual

  • Answer:

I believe it is unused(able) at the moment and is reserved for future expansion. One suggestion that has been made is that once Sky get off their arses, at some as yet undefined point in the future, and roll out a decent Internet connection to their subscribers, it will be used to connect the box to the Internet so that Sky can provide the type of video on demand services that BT Vision and Virgin Media users have already enjoyed for a number of years.

well i don't have a sky thing but usually if you have a usb port it's for external hdd's flash drives and sometimes mp3 players........... also depends on whether it's at the back or at the front....... and sometimes side.......
