Is it possible to record TV programs using External TV Tuner?

How to record the TV programs to my PC without the help of TV tuner card?

I have a Sony LCD TV and reliance BigTv STB. I would like to record my favorite programs from the TV for later viewing. How to do this without the help of TV tuner card. I do not want to view TV on my PC monitor, just recording is enough.

You cannot. You need a tuner card to feed the A/V from the box to the computer to record, and a graphics card with TV out or a PC in on your TV. If you don't want to go the direction of a PC DVR, your other options are getting the DVR from your provider, or using a DVD recorder with HDD.
