Why are Windows Media Player slowing down?

Why can i not open my HD PVR clips at all when I try to play them back in Quick time player or windows media p?

  • Basically, My PVR works absolutely fine, the recording is fine but when I try to open my clip to have a look at it, this happens in Windows Media Player Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file. And this is what happens in quicktime Error-2048: Couldn't open the file(whatever the file is called).M2TS because it is not a file that quicktime understands. However, I did get the video to play in Total Media Theatre but it lags and has no audio!!! PLEEEAAAASSSSEEEE HEEEELLLLPPP

  • Answer:

Can you play the clips in your PVR itself? I am sure it comes with its own player. Try to rename your clips from xxx.M2TS to xxx.mpg
