How can I hook up a Dual Tuner dvr to a second tv?

DVR +vhs/dvd combo+TV = disaster, Can you help?

• OK, I have DVR box through Time Warner cable and a new magnavox dvd recorder/vhs recorder and a Toshiba big screen (2004), I can't seem to hook this all up properly, I can play dvd's and vhs's but everything I record is black, but it is recording. The dvd rcorder makes a menu. I hope there is a genius who can understand what I'm about to write. The cable from the wall goes to a splitter (I needed a booster so the splitter) The cable goes from the splitter to the DVR box and from the splitter to the TV ant2, (I also have empty ant1 and out). On the TV I have 2 sets red/yel/white in the IN, one set goes to the DVR outTV and 1 set ges to the dvd/vhs combo OUT. My dvd/vhs has no place to hook cable but it has the red/green/blue hook up. I hooked the red/blu/green into the TV IN and also in the only place you can put it in the dvd/vhs. That didn't work. Help!! I'm not even sure if this combo will work with my cable. They make mention of an external tuner, is the my cable box or do i have to buy something else?

  1. Can you see the picture and hear sound when you are recording. 2.Are you trying to record on a dvd disc and have you formatted it within the machine you are using. 3. Are you recording froma live tv broadcast or the combo machine with an existing recording. 4.Make sure each machine works in all repects without the others being attached. Make sure each machine has been set up so that it has auto scanned for available broadcast channels. 5. Do your machines have scart sockets? 6. If you can see the setup menu on the tv screen, when recording you may need to use a different input which you choose on the recording remote, such as line 1 or 2 or extension 3. The main issue is to make sure they all work separately first. Then the output of 1 source goes to the input of the recorder. The output of the recorder should go to the tv screen
