How to record TV shows?

How to record shows with an INBUILT HD tuner into TV?

  • Okay. Here's my ordeal. When i first bought my dvd recorder, i used to plug my Digital Set Top Box into the AV source on the recorder. This would allow me to record all the shows at digital quality. However, when i purchased my new TV with an inbuilt tuner, obviously i no longer need the set top box, but now i cannot plus the tuner into the recorder since its inbuilt. I can only use antennas to get analogue channels which don't even relate to the HD Tuner in my TV. There is a monitor out plug at the back of my TV but i dont really know what its for. Any help as to how i can record ****?

  • Answer:

You need to use the Digital set top box you were using before, as a source for the DVD recorder. You need to split the antenna to the digital box and the TV.

Mano!

First you have this partially WRONG: "i used to plug my Digital Set Top Box into the AV source on the recorder. This would allow me to record all the shows at digital quality." Yes it recorded - Standard Definition quality (Even if you'd been using "S-Video"). The "Monitor" out plug (along with a Left and Right Audio Output can feed into the A/V source on your recorder. Unfortunately the TV MUST remain turned on to Record the channel the inbuilt tuner has selected. (The opposite of what we've been trying to tell people about their VCR with their TV's)
