How do you setup a VCR to record from a satellite connection?
-
The other day I tried to record a program from satellite onto my friend's VCR but I couldn't get it to work. It's been YEARS since I've used a VCR and i remember that you used to have the TV tuned to channel 3. But the range of satellite channels only starts at channel 50. And when I get the VCR to scan for channels, it only goes from 1 to 125. How do you get it to work? Or does no one use VCRs any more?

Answer:
You leave the VCR on CH3 or A/V inputs. You change channels on the satellite receiver. To set timed recordings, you need to set timers on both the VCR to record, and the satellite receiver to change channels. Most satellite receivers support timers.

If you are unable to set a timer for the Satellite receiver, you can leave it on and tuned to the correct channel. You program the VCR to whatever channel the TV is on. With Direct TV mine was always on 4.
