How to set DVR for dish network?

How do you transfer DVR recordings on Dish Network?

  • When my sister and I set our favorite shows to record on our Dish Network DVR (off of our primary [1] reciever), they are always set to record on our 2nd receiver. This is not to our convenience, as my parents tend to watch the TV that's hooked up to the 2nd receiver and always stop our recordings when the channel is about to change so they can continue to watching whatever it is they're watching. I want to know if there's a way to transfer our shows to record on the 1st receiver, so that they will no longer be stopped by my parents. I've already tried many things, but see no options that offer the switch. If there is one, what/where is it? What do you do?

  • Answer:

In the Menu under preferences go to "Record Plus" there you can make TV1 the default to record on, but it sucks when you do that. You'll get stuck watching everything. A better solution would be to get a single tuner receiver for the bedroom and put the DVR in single mode. WELL worth the $7 month to be free of them and record while retaining the ability to surf.

Hi, if you want to just Disable the Record Plus feature on your receiver. Menu, 6-Preferences & the 5- Record Plus, under activation select "Disable". This will now prompt all recordings to ask where you want to record them. You can tell the receiver if you want it to record on TV1 or TV2. I hope this helps and if you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact me directly. Thank you! Mary Catherine Brady DISH Network Customer Support [email protected]
