How can I get the comcast remotes to stop controling both the cable box and the digital adapter (DTA)?

When I use the cable box to watch tv while the digital adapter is recording a show. its hard because both remotes control both cable box and the digital adapter from comcast at the same time. Causing a problem when im trying to record my shows and other people are just watching tv. the HD cable box is rng110 and the digital adapter is dc50xu. is there a way to stop this problem from happening. when i had the motorola concast cable box there wasnt a problem
