Can a use a sky box to receive freesat without a viewing card?

I've moved into a property that has really bad freeview signal, however there is a Satellite dish installed. As I do not have a HD TV I was wondering if an old sky box without a viewing card would work. I am only wondering because they work out cheaper than a Standard freesat box.

No, but the dish that is set for sky is set for freesat. The frequency and the decode is different

I am afraid yoiu have to get a viewing card to receive freesat. of course, another way is to use a satellite tv card. it allows you watch HDTV in a perfect quality.

you do not need a card but you will only get a limited choice of programs
