Is it wise to buy a TV from Ebay?

I have direct tv and i want it in my room can i buy a box from ebay and just hook it up with a 2 way splitter?

    I think what the kids are trying to say is: 1 you can split after the Directv box, with a splitter from radio shack. But you can only watch the same channel as the main tv. 2 You need a second wire in from the satellite to tune to a different receiver. So if you already have a second wire, you can buy a used receiver! Just make sure you are not 'buying' a unit that was only rented by the seller!

Ok, one major thing is to make sure the card does not have any outstanding fees (a balance) on it. The seller should provide the card number for you to research with DirecTV's customer service. Secondly, a two way splitter will not work because we are not trying to split video sigs. What you need is a multi-dish switch like a 2x4 switch. Not sure what your config is but i included a link below to check out.

no, dont waste yo money. to stop hackers, direct tv requires the box to be programed through them before it can be used. you will have to get one from them since they requires activation first. sorry but thats how our is.

Ok, I work for DTV and here are the facts, a splitter will not run another reciever, it would need its own feed from the satellite dish, you can add a used reciever on an existing account, you do however need to order a "NEW" access card ($20) from dtv to acctivate the reciever, and if you call us we will come and install the cable and outlet in your room without charge to you!(or your parents etc)

it depends if you want to mirror the channel off the tv or if you want to watch differn't channles. if you want to mirror , then you can split off the out put of the reciver thats the line to your tv. other wise you will need another reciver.
