Why won't my TIVO connect to my phone line?

My Tivo won't connect to the phone line...?

  • I started having this problem this week, my tivo showed that program info will run out and needs to connect. After persistence, it finally did, but now it is playing the same game I with me. background: I Reset my tivo unplugged my phone router thing went through the guided set up made sure the phone settings were correct my account is in good standing I don't know what more i can do. When i try to connect it says, service not answering, service interrupting, no connection, etc... any help would be appreciated

    What series model Tivo are you using? If you have Series 2 or 3 it might just be easier and faster to connect them up to a high speed data line for daily calls. They easily accept internet connections to do their updates and it takes a fraction of the time. If you have a Series 1 then it might be signs that the internal modem is failing. These models weren't designed to last forever. Purchasing a upgrade kit or external modem are the only 2 choices with Series 1.

Is your phone line connected to the internet like Vonage? (voip) if so they recently changed something and my Tivos didn't like it. Eventually it started working again. But if you have a Tivo 2 and have an internet connection this works better. If you do go with using the internet and wireless, check with the Tivo website for information on which wireless adapter works with your Tivo as not all do.
