My new sky viewing card wont work.

Why wont my new sky card work?

  • we recently moved house and sky sent out a new viewing card, its a new white one (we had a white one in the old house that worked) but this one wont work and everytime we insert it we just get this message "This viewing card is not authorised call the broadcaster for assistance" so we phoned sky and they just said there is no problem their end and it is showing up as working but its not working and they are still billing us even though we can not watch sky.we tried using our old card but that does no longer work. any help would be great many thanks

  • Answer:

i'm guessing sky already told you to unplug, pull out from the back of the skybox all the wires to the dish, wait 60 secs, before putting the wires back in, plugging in and turning on, wait another 60 secs or so until the sky preview channel appears, THEN inserting new card and seeing if it's recognised. if that didn't work it's their fault, either something wrong at their end or something wrong with your hardware that needs replacing by a sky engineer. you need to call sky back and threaten to leave. they'll do almost anything to prevent a subscriber leaving, they'll even fix things they're supposed to. incidentally, has it been 24 hours? sometimes it just takes time for the system to change over, sometimes takes almost 2 days for a new card to be authorised, even though it shouldn't. good luck!
