What do I need to know about buying a tv?

Setting up digital movies to play on TV, need help on how?

• I am currently trying to setup a system where I can access my digital movie collection on my TV(would like to access on all TV's in my house) and watch directly from the TV. What I've gathered is that I'm going to need a large hard drive (currently have a free 3TB one) and transfer all my movies onto it(If this is wrong let me know). Other then this, I don't know what else I need to do. Here is a list of what I would like to know: What format do the files need to be to be played on a TV? Can it be plugged into a router so any internet device can access it to watch the movies? Is it illegal to transfer DVD's I own to a digital version? Is there a media player(something that would allow me to play the movies) I need to put on the hard drive and if so, which one? How would I setup access to the hard drive to play the movies with say a universal remote? Is there some kind of way to have a search function to find the movie quickly? If there is anything else I need to know about setting up or something you would recommend to me such as buying a specific device or a free converter that would be great. If you don't want to take the time to explain it directly a link to a site that does would also be fine for me. Something like a DVR setup or ability to access it through the DVR would be fine also.

  I download movies then save it on disk or disk-on-key then connect to TV and watch enjoy :)
