How do I connect my Direct TV DVR to my computer? It is asking for the IR receiver, what is this? Where do I c?
-
I bought this new computer and it has gadgets I never had before. I hooked the HDMI cable to my DVR and my Tower. I then connected a funny looking thing to the DVR that say IR1 and IR2 with a bus connector. I then hooked a wire that looks like a head set connection with a little thing on the other end to my tower. What all have I done wrong?

Answer:
The HDMI cable on the PC should go to the TV monitor; it is probably output only The HDMI on the DVR is output so it is connected to the TV. Connect s-video or composite out from the DVR to the video input in the PC - unless it has an HDMI input - but that's rare. IR1 and IR2 are IR blasters and are used to control the set-top box; IR receiver is used to control the PC via an IR remote.
