What is the best cables for HD setup?

My HD Pvr won't display on my TV?

• So I recently bought a Hauppauge HD PVR for my Xbox it was "new" according to Amazon but I'm not sure if thats true the Output cables it came with a dirt smudges on it and looked like they had scratches I ignored it but I noticed that it wont display on my TV. I use HD Cables and they display perfectly when I don't use them with the output cables it came with but to record I have to use my own personal 480p cables so I cant record good quality is it the cable or am I doing something wrong I tried flipping the cables and everything is there a setting that might be wrong on my TV or HD Pvr that isn't allowing it to display I checked every channel every AVI Component HDMI and source of input into my TV to find my xbox screen (It should have been on component and thats where I spent most my time when I checked) and nothing worked until I switched the output cables with my own personal ones as I said earlier so basically: Is there anything I can do to fix my setup I mean everything seems right because my HD PVR still works and outputs to my computer but not to my TV please someone help I don't want to spend even more money on a new pair if its my own fault (Which I don't think it is but getting someone elses opinion to see if I can do anything different) has anyone else has this problem or know of a way to fix it?
