What Tivo brand is the best?

i have a 32 inch flat screen tv and i want to get a tivo dvr and want to know what brand is the best and y ? i am a full time college student and i sometimes don't have time to watch my favorite Tv shows. What Tivo Model works best and is easy to use

You will want a TiVo brand DVR sold by TiVo themselves. No other manufacturer currently manufactures TiVo DVRs. You will want one of the HD models. You may need a cable card, and will need to subscribe to the TiVo service. Of the TiVo DVRs made by other manufactures, they are all SD, and I would say the Toshiba and Pioneer ones are best, with the Sony ones just behind that. None are sold new today; you have to buy ones second hand. The Toshiba and Pioneer ones are DVD recorder models (except one Toshiba model has DVD player only), and have the free Basic service available.

"Tivo" is the brand. "DVR" is the name of the device. Many companies make a DVR, but there's only one Tivo. (compare "kleenex" and "facial tissue") In your case, they're both the same. Tivo makes the best DVR for over-the-air (antenna) or plain old cable setups.
