Help Connecting Freeview To A Telly?

  • I have a little tv which the only ariel I can attach onto it is a indoor antenna. There is no way I can connect an ariel via a coaxial aerial from a rooftop ariel. If i have got this right a freeview plugs into the telly via a scart plug........but someone has told me you need to plug the ariel in through the scart? How do you do this and I only have one scart at the back of the telly? Can anyone help tell me how I would connect a freevew box to the telly and get a signal?......also you will really need to explain it in basics as I am really confused with it all haha. Also I havent bought the freeview box yet so if anyone can recommend a good cheap one that would also help? Thanks

You poor thing lol You need an ariel (you can buy pretty decent ones) to go into the freeview box to pick up the signal and then the scart lead connects from the freeveiw box to your tv then bingo you should be on! you might have to swith your telly over to "av" the channel you hook up computers dvd players etc hope that helps :-)

its quite simple really you connect the indoor arial to the freeview box and then connect the to tv with a scart lead it depends on what indoor arial u have its meant to be a freeview one go to argos and you can get a freeview box for 16.99 and an freeview arial for ten pounds hope this helps

To connect up freeview: The aerial lead that is coming into your house/flat (usually a thick white cable but can vary) is connected to an "aerial in" port on the back of the freeview box. You would then plug in the scart lead to the freeview box and plug the other end into the scart socket on your television. You might need to tune your television in after that and you should be good to go. Hope that helps :) Buying a freeview box - I bought one from Asda for £20 and it was pretty good. Some come with built in hard drives so you can record stuff as well.
