Can I connect an HDMI to RCA cable to a standard DirecTV DVR?

Can i connect a hdmi cable that transforms into a rca cables to a directv standard dvr?

and watch the cable channels in hd, or do i have to buy a hd box such as Tivo or any other, please help, all ways to do so will certainly help, tip tips tips ill give you points

well first of all if you don't have an HD box you cannot get HD signal so you need to get an HD box from your television service provider unless your service provider supports a HD Tivo box. Second if you have an HDMI cable that transforms to RCA type connectors it is component only and not the standard Yellow video out that is most likely on your cable or satellite box.
