Tivo instead of cable hd dvr.

I've just bought an HD Tivo and I prefer the cable DVR picture to Tivo, is there a way to improve the qaulity?

• The Tivo picture is a bit foggy, the colors aren't as vibrant or life like. I have the cable line running through an amplifier and I've spent a long time adjusting the settings on the tv, like picture,sharpness, color and brightness. I have a multi stream cable card in. Maybe two single stream cards would be better? I was also wondering if a digital antenna might work better than an amplifier, or any other suggestions would be appreciated.

  Your picture was better because you were receiving cable and they might have been sending the hd signal. Now with tivo, you need to get an hd antenna and hook it up with the hdmi cable to get the best video and audio. The hd dvr will not give you the picture without a hd signal
