How do I hook up an external hard drive to a DVR?

Is it possible to hook up my computer to my DVR satellite box and download the saved items to the hard drive?

  • I would like to download the saved material in my DVR and burn the items to DVD. Is this possible and if so, how do I do it?

    No. While the connections are there at the back of the box, they are disabled.

Hi Nick Its easier to watch the material and copy to a stand alone DVD recorder connected to the video and audio outputs of the box. But some people have figured out hacks to get into boxes. Problem is hacking the boxes is not in the cable or satellite company contract. If it is your own personal TIVO you might have more luck. And if it is your REPLAY TV you should be able to find people on the internet to tell you how to share files from that. My family members share files with Replay TV boxes and burn them for each other.
