How to record output from my computer?

Record a vcr tape in a vcr player with composite output to a computer?

  • I have an old VCR player to play VCR tapes. I want to transfer those tapes onto a computer of mine. The VCR player only has composite output (Left/Right/Video). I want it to be saved onto a computer like a video file. Do I need a converter of some sort or what? Buying a new, modern VCR player is not an option. Thanks in advance.

I did that with a Happauge HD USB TV tuner. The recording is in real time, but the quality is pretty good..The software with the tuner does a lot of processing.
