DVR use with basic cable?

Can i use dvr with basic cable?

  • i have basic cable, but i want to record shows when im not home can i just buy a dvr w/o digital cable or satilitte

    Some Cable companies will let you if you have a digital starter which is the same price as standard. Basic is often just 12 channels. So the answer would be no to basic

If its a TiVo yes you can. But some DVR's that come from the cable company require you to get digital cable. This is the case with Time Warner. i bought a TiVo because i didnt want digital cable and TiVo's offer so much more

u can have basic cable with a dvr even with timewarner cable ..this dude doesnt know what hes speaking of...dvr is just the converter ,,u can record anything as long as u have the converter
