How can I edit a video on a disc?

(It was done one video) My teacher gave it to m on disc, the only problem is, How do allow it to be edited? When I click on the D: files, it goes straight to windows media player. How can I get it so I can edit it on Sony Vegas or at least windows movie maker, when I go searching for the file, there is no compatible video file in the disc that can be imported. So yeah... how do I get it onto a editing program?

Sony Vegas supported WMV, MPG, MP4, MOV format files, if you need, you can get a video converter help you convert avi to above format to try, Personally, I use AVS video converter. Its a commercial solution and cost about $39 US dollars, but its been well worth it. And, you can convert the video to all types of formats and not just DVD or avi. If you cannot find a useful video converter, you can download it to have a try too
