DVR help? How to stop a recording?

My family recently got DVR and my mom accidentally set something to record for the whole season instead of one episode. Usually I'm very good with electronics but no matter how hard I try I can't fix this PLEASE HELP (detailed instructions, I'm only twelve) I have cablevision/optimum

It's probably different with different systems, i.e. satellite, cable, FIOS, U-Verse, etc. In my U-Verse system, you can bring up any recorded episode and see menu options before you start playing it. If its a series recording, like you've described, there will be options for modifying the series settings, including canceling the series. Another way is to bring up "Recorded Programs" on the remote, and there is a menu at the top that will take you to "Series" settings. You can delete the unwanted series there.
