Why does my dish dvr delete by itself?

I'm about out of space on my Dish DVR. Can I use my laptop or Toshiba DVR to record to DVDs so I can delete?

  • I would like to make DVDs out of my recordings and be able to delete a lot of my shows. I'm about out of space. Plus, if I ever go with Direct TV or if something happens to my DVR, I'm out all my shows. Is this possible? Is it difficult? I'm hoping I can do this without having to play all the recordings all the way through. That would be almost 100 hours of TV. I do have a decent Toshiba DVR that I bought right before we got Dish Network. It actually became just an expensive DVD player when we got rid of cable TV because I couldn't figure out how to make it work with Dish. Any suggestions? Thank you, Jody :o)

  • Answer:

There's really no short way to transfer your shows. They don't want you to and that's why. You have to record your shows one at a time. Use the yellow, red and white outputs on your dish dvr and connect to the yellow, red and white inputs on your recorder. Sorry there's not a quicker way.Good luck.
