How to record a tv program?

Can I rewind and record live tv program that my DVR saved?

• I was able to watch and record the last half hour of a 1 hour show.. my dvr was able to save first half hour while I was away and the tv was on so i rewinded and didnt miss anything, but i wanna record the first half hour as well.. Can i do that and if so how do i do it? It wont do it if i just push record button from the beginning..

  I'm not quite sure I understand your question. If you're watching Live TV, and decide you want to record the program, hitting the Record button will cause the remainder of the show to be saved. Example: you're watching some show in Live TV, and have to leave. Hit 'record' and the DVR will record the remainder of the show - but not previous part. If you come home, find Live TV halfway through a show you decide you want to record, you can rewind Live TV to beginning of its buffer, then hit the record button. This will cause everything in the buffer, plus the rest of the program, to be recorded. Example: you come home to find the DVR halfway through a show you want to record. You hit rewind to find the beginning of the show in the buffer, and hit Record. The DVR will record everything from that point forward, until the end of the program. Remember - the the Live TV buffer is only so long. Usually between 1 to 2 hours, depending on your particular DVR. Changing the channel, or watching a prerecorded show on the DVR will cause the Live TV buffer to be cleared - meaning if you go back to Live TV afterwards, you won't be able to rewind beyond that point. Example: You finish watching a prerecorded program, then switch to Live TV to find the DVR halfway through a show you want to record. You can't rewind because the buffer was erased, but you can still hit record to record everything going forward until the end of the program. Note: In all cases, hitting "record" while in Live TV mode only refers to the current show. If you used rewind to go back to the previous show and hit record, you'll record from that point to the end of the previous show - not the current one. If the buffer contains multiple shows you want recorded, you'll have to rewind and fast forward to the beginning of each show, and hit record. Also, the DVR's understanding of "Show" is based on its TV Guide data. So if the schedule is wrong - such as a sports game ran late - the DVR will only record "The Big Game" based on its scheduled timeslot. This is why some recommend telling the DVR to extend the recording time for sports events by 30 to 60 minutes - just in case they go into overtime.
