Can i connect tivo to a monitor?

  • My main issue is that i do not want to buy a new TV but instead i do have a 24in HD monitor with available HDMI connection. i am trying to find a way so i can use my 24in monitor as a regular HD TV by connecting it to TIVO (via HDMI) and TIVO connected to charter cable. is it even possible? additionally is it possible to configure TIVO so it can sent image via HDMI and audio via RCA (analog) or via headphone jack? and also to do this do i need to buy subscription? i am thinking of buying the following TIVO: TiVo TCD746320 Premiere DVR P.S: are there any other "alternative/cheaper" ways to convert my HD monitor to a regular TV? thank you all for all your help.

    Yes you can, simply. Yes you can send analog or digital audio to a separate sound system. You need a TiVo subscription to use the DVR features, even the basic ones such as recording. Without subscription, it is only a tuner with Live TV buffering. You also need a cable card from your provider, to get full access to digital cable programming. For a bit less money, you could rent a basic Charter HD cable box. It will have much of the same connections the TiVo Premiere will have.
