How exactly does a DVD-R work?

Cannot get DVDR to work threw cable box?

  • I have a Sony DVD Recorder (RDR-GX315) and a General Instrument cable box from Comcast. My previous dvd player worked mostly because all the video signal was sent threw the coaxle cables to the box to the tv, and whenever i turned the dvd on it cut off the singal from the box so i could watch a movie. The sony dvd recorder has a video output wire that i put into the input of my cable box yet when i turn the DVD on it doesnt work :[ idk whats going on; if you need more information ill add details; but be descriptive; thanks.

  • Answer:

If your setup is as described you are backwards. You need to be from the output of your cable box to the input of your DVD-r and then out of the dvd-r to your tv.
