How do I know that my computer can burn DVD?

I have movies downloaded on my computer but I don't know how to burn them to a dvd, does anyone know how?

  • I don't want to have to watch them on my computer! Thanks!

If you have a DVD writer Drive, then you can download the program "Nero" Version 7 (I believe it's the best version) and Burn your DVD in any way you want. Insert a Writable DVD in you DVD writer drive, then open nero. If you want your DVD to have a Menu, Then choose the Burn Video DVD. But if you only want to play your files on the DVD, Choose Burn Data DVD. For more details press F1, and read about it in the help menu. I always recommend you to use DVD+R Discs rather than DVD-R. Because It's easier for the Drive to burn them and they stay longer compared to DVD-R discs. And also a higher speed DVD = better quality it has. If the DVD's speed will be higher, it shows the quality of your disc. So if you want to play your movies on your DVD player I suggest you to buy the high speed DVD+R (16x) and burn it with 8x or 16x (8x is better) because for a DVD player it is better to read low speeds, In fact that's the appropriate speed. But if you're gonna burn a disc for your own data storage and back up of your computer files, High speeds are better. Hope it helps.

First, you have to make sure that you computer HAS a DVD writable drive. If you do, you should have software on your system to burn DVDs. Look in your programs list and see if you have something like that. The software should walk you through basic burning. Another way is to go to the Explore window (assuming you are running Windows) and find where you have your movie saved, make sure there is a blank DVD in your drive, and click-n-drag your file to the DVD drive and that should start the burning process.
