Can you use tivo with basic cable?

Comcast cut my basic cable service because i need a box, is it possible to use the new tivo Premier?

• like tivo premier( box only) can be plug in directly from the wall to the tivo. or i need something else to make it work. P.S they cut down many channels to the local channels in south florida P.S.S if there is way tell how to do it and if not where can i buy a comcast box with out a rental fee

  Yes, for all purposes the Tivo Premier can replace a cable box, the only significant feature you lose is on demand. You're goal seems to be to eliminate the rental fee, but you are aware there is a monthly fee on the Tivo, right? If your goal is to save money, comcast does have a more simplified cable box, they call it a tuning adapter, and will loan you two of them for free. More than two and they want $2/month for them. But, you can't go wrong with Tivo, its a great unit and you won't regret it.
