Which DVD recorder to buy?

I already have a DVD recorder with HDD and am looking to buy a HD set top box.?

• I'll start by saying that I'm not "tech savy" and that will probably become evident as this text goes on. So, I already have a DVD recorder with HDD and am looking to buy a HD set top box. I notice that there are a lot of devises on the market already that combine both, but because I already have a reliable recorder I'll try and save some cash and stick with it. What I'd like to know is am I able to buy the set top box, plug it into my DVD recorder and watch/record HD TV from my recorder channel (AV)? Also, if it's plugged into my DVD recorder does that mean the only way I can watch HD TV is on the AV channel because it goes through the recorder first? As I mentioned, I'm not tech savy, so try not to incorporate too much technical jargon in your answer. Thanks in advance.

  We don't know if your talking about using an antenna, cable or satellite service. An hd box will work with all the above, you might have problems on the higher channels because the recorder only goes to channel 125 but in your manual there is a way to change it to go higher if the channels are higher. You probably will have to watch what you record.
