How to finalize a disc in my dvd recorder?

DVD recorder problem for a Magnavox. Stops recording on DVD+RW?

  • I use Maxell DVD+RW rewritable discs about 10 or 15 times and then the recorder tells me that the disc is unusable. I checked the instructions on this and it tells me that the recording space available might be used up. I look at the disc and I can see where it's discolored. I see how much of it was actually recorded on and about half of it is used when I get this error message. The instruction manual also recommends to use Sony DVD+RWs. Those are recommended. I'd like some ideas on what's going on. Is there space on the disc that gets a recorded telling the machine how many times I've used it? Why am I not able to use it 1,000 times or half that many. What else is being put on the disc when I record on it? I do erase the disc everytime I record a new recording, but I still get the error after awhile. I'm not finalizing because the instruction manual says it's not necessary to finalize DVD+RWs and the option doesn't come up. I do keep the discs away from heat and light. I noticed that the recorder gives off alot of heat when left on, so I don't store discs on it thinking that was the cause of the problem. But I still have the problem. This renders the disc useless and have to be thrown away. Hope I can receive some good answers to solve this. I don't trust repair places or stores because all they would want to do is take advantage of the situation and try to sell something I don't need. Thank you for your answers.
