Roku box not connecting to internet?

Why doesn't my Roku box connect to the internet anymore?

  • My internet works just fine obviously, as I am typing this while the problem exists. However, earlier today, the box would easily connect to the internet and even played a full movie. We've had the box for months and its worked perfectly. However, now, when I choose a movie and press play, it doesn't buffer and says that it could not connect to the internet. I then have to go through the process of reconnecting. It connects for a while and then the same thing happens all over again.

    I'm having the same issue. According to a Roku user forum, other users nationwide are also having the same problem today.

Your cpu and internet might not be operating at the speed that the roku needs to work. You need at least 1.5 mps to operate. Run a speed test at www.speakeasy.net/speedtest and pick the closest city to you. If it's slow, reset your modem or router and run the speed test again. I thought I was running at 3 mps and it was actually 1.2 and this fixed my problem
