When buying a DVD recorder what should I look for and what does the different X speeds on blank discks mean?

Hi quidproquo888, Today you probably want a Dual Layer burner that will burn either + or - DVD's at 16X or higher. The X speed refers to how fast the drive burns where 1X was the speed of the original burners. Painfully slow. Modern DVD burners burn at 16 or 18X. The X speed on blanks means the same. If your burner is capable of 16X but you have 8X media you can use it but your burner will slow down to the speed the media is capable of. Norm
