What is a good Blue-ray player to buy?

Can you play blueray(?) discs in a DVD player or do you have to buy a blueray player?

    nope, you cant. the laser beam in a dvd player is much too fat to read blu-ray discs, you have to buy a blu-ray player. it's not a software thing, it's a law of physics thing. dvd players use a red light beam, which is wide, blu-ray players use a much smaller blue beam so they can read much smaller data that is crammed together much tighter. but it does work the other way round, blu-ray players can play big fat dvd data no problem. it's like having glasses: dvd players are too short-sighted to read fine blu-ray print, they can only read big dvd billboards, whereas blu-ray players have eagle eyesight and can read everything, big or small..

no, you need a blu ray player to play blueray discs, but with a blu ray player you can also play DVD's, it is only backward compatible. sorry. a blu ray disk is just a high capacity DVD, so it can hold more info, good for High def movies, or multiple movies. good luck!
