How does RF modulator work?

What is a RF Modulator, how does it work?

  • Answer:

RF modulators take an audio & video input and turn them into a TV channel (3 or 4) for use on TVs that don't have video and audio inputs, just an antenna input. They are used to watch video sources (DVD for example) that don't have an antenna output (3 or 4) for use on TVs that can only take antenna inputs. These boxes usually have an antenna input as well so you can plug your antenna/cable into the box with your DVD player and run it to your TV's antenna input. RF Modulators are available as set-top boxes in many retail locations. Radio Shack has one that passes stereo sound to stereo TVs.
