How do I make my VCR/DVD work with my TiVo?

My Tivo isn't working. Any help?

• My Tivo isn't working. It is stuck on the "Welcome. Powering up..." slide when you restart the whole thing. It goes through my vonage, with a little adapter that connects to the tivo. our internet has been down a couple times this week because of my brother visiting, which has affected vonage because it goes through the internet, and tivo, since it goes through vonage. everything is working now except for the tivo. the adapter thingy usually has a green light to know it's on, and i have checked the plug multiple times to make sure it's in, but it just won't work. any help? thanks in advanced! Oh and the tivo is series one, i don't know if that matters or not.

  Your problem doesn't have anything to do with Vonage. The most common cause of this problem is failure of the Tivo's hard drive. But try the following steps first: Unplug the Tivo & plug it back in. If you are very lucky this will will let the Tivo fix itself. If that doesn't work, unplug it & try the Kick Start procedure at : http://www.weaknees.com/tivo-kickstart-codes.php & try to force a software reinstall. I'm not sure this works on the series 1 but you don't have anything to loose in trying. If the above fails, it's possible to replace the hard drive. If you have lifetime service on the Tivo it might even be worth while. The hard drive is just a standard PATA hard drive with the Tivo software installed on it. You can buy replacement hard drives with the software already installed or buy something called "Instant Cake" software and install it on your own PATA hard drive.
