Is it possible to transfer video from comcast dvr to the computer?

I have AT&T U-Verse, how can I transfer from my DVR to my Computer?

  • I have AT&T U-Verse, how can I transfer from my DVR to my Computer? I just want to be able to copy movies and whatnot that I have saved on my DVR to my computer, can I do this by firewire, USB port, or S-Video. I have a vague idea on what to do but I cant figure it out. Thanks for your help.

  • Answer:

You can use composite or S-video A/V, to a capture device on your computer, or a DVD recorder to copy programs/movies from the box. There is a chance , if your computer has firewire in, you might be able to copy that way. You cannot with USB. Those ports are at most disabled.

the only way to do it at this point would be to get a video card that has inputs for a camcorder or whatever, you'll need the video & audio inputs. you need to link the dvr to your computer via these RCA cables, once you have that start fishing around for a video recording application, once you find one you like, record your brains out, it would probably help to find a geek to assist you. you can also buy a dvd burner then rip the dvd to the computer, cheaper and faster.
