Can my laptop record with a Hauppauge HD PVR?

Whats wrong with my Hauppauge HD PVR?

• I use my hauppauge 1212 HD PVR to record gameplay from my Xbox 360. I've had it for about 8 months now, and about a week ago, I no longer had audio coming out of my TV. My TV is fine because it has audio if I watch a show, just not when I play Xbox. Oddly enough, Total Media Extreme still records the game audio, but its like my TV is on mute (its not, I checked lol). I can't just crank up the speakers on my Laptop because the Audio and Video in total media extreme is about 5 seconds behind. Please list the proper settings I need on either my xbox, total media extreme, or if something is wrong with my PVR. Help is appreciated
