Can you transfer from a dvr to a computer?

Is there any way I can transfer my DVR saved programs to my computer?

I have a Dish so I get to record shows and get to save them to watch for later. However, I want to watch it on my computer. Is there any way I can transfer the TV shows that I DVR'ed to my computer?

Yes, there are, dependant on what type of DVR you have. If you have Dish Network then search for "pvr explorer". If you have DirecTV with a DVR of HR20 or higher then there are no other options than a real-time capture. I recommend the Hauppauge 1212 HD-PVR. That will set you back about $200 though, but it works great.
