Can a DVD recorder record video games on TV?

I want to make gameplay videos but I don't have all the equipment needed. I was wondering if I could record my gameplay on a DVD recorder and then rip the DVD on my computer. Would this work?
Answer:

Yes,you just need to hook up your gaming system up to DVD reorder through the input jacks rather than the tv jacks.Remember to change the input channel on the recorder to view and hear your game.I have done it before myself
