How do I get my TiVo DVR to update on the Internet?

Confused by Tivo?

  • I know the basic idea of Tivo and it sounds great. But, I already have a DVR with VHS included. I can record shows, but since I have a cable box, I have to be on the channel to record. It is a pain if I want to watch something else obviously. Does Tivo get around this?? Also, can I save what I record to a DVD? And do I need high-speed internet or anything? How does it update?

    The Dual Tuner Tivo will work. But if you have digital cable, only one tuner on the Tivo will utilize the digital signal, and the other will be analog.

Yes, I understand the problem you are having. Tivo gets around this with their Dual Tuner model. It allows you record one channel and watch another...or even better record 2 shows at once, even if they are on at the same time. You need Connection to TiVo service via existing phone line and/or broadband connection. Now to get the program saved on a dvd you can use TivoToGo and save it to you computer and make copies. Currently, Tivo is having a holiday special on the HUMAX® DVD Recorder with TiVo®. The built-in DVD makes burning your favorite shows to DVD as easy as using your TiVo remote.

I think a general answer/solution to your question would be to purchase a signal splittler. It's a really inexpensive device that spilts your cable signals to allow you to record one channel while switching & watching another

If you are watching TV and a movie that you have sceduled comes up the tivo will record and you don't have do anything, and you can call it up later. I set up the movies I wanna copy or watch a month in advance, Tivo has an excellent memory. Scotty [email protected]
