Does TIVO HD DVR work without a Cablecard while using free Time Warner Cable?

I have free BASIC cable with Time Warner Cable. I would like to get a TiVo HD DVR so I can dvr shows and stream Netflix.. Does the Tivo HD work with FREE basic Time Warner Cable. Remember this is free, so I cannot get a cablecard. Thanks for the help!!

There is no such thing as free cable TV at any level. If you are legitimately getting cable TV service, then you will have no problem approaching TW to upgrade to digital cable and get a cablecard. Anyhow, the TiVo will work fine on analog cable, analog/digital antenna, and unencrypted digital channels. It will not have guide data for digital cable channels without cable cards.
