Can You get just a digital Freeview recorder?

How do I get my dvd recorder to pick up channels on the freeview that is built into my tv?

  • I have a Panasonic Viera with a built in freeview box and having just bought a dvd recorder I can only get it to pick up analogue channels. The dvd recorder says it can only search "analogue, cable or auto". How can I make it so I can record freeview channels?? please help!

  • Answer:

95% of manufactores that have a built in freeview box, will NOT let you record this sigial soucre. Best to get a stand alone unit, therefore giving you twin turner, which means that you can record one digitial whilst watching another. wg

You need to go into the menu settings and change the output to DVB on which ever scart your using to connect the recorder to the TV. I used to install them for a living. Been a while now but it is possible. GIve me a shout if you don't succeed. i dont know what the other people are on about you most definately can record freeview channels. No need for a seperate decoder.

Sorry unless the built in freeview acts like a stand alone box , where you can loop the signal thru your dvd rec, you will not be able to record it.

You need a seperate decoder for digital channels.
