Why does my tv turn off by itself after a half hour?

My direct tv reciever wont turn on?

  • I was watching tv and it suddenly just turned off. Ive tried disconnecting it up to an hour and it still will not work. I left it connected for half an hour and it got warm but still doesnt turn on. I want to call direct tv but i want to know if they will charge me for another reciever.

    They will tell you to: Unplug power cord for 5 minutes. Unplug T.V. power cord for 5 minutes. Plug all back in, turn all on. Reason for this being that the Receiver may have been updating, and was interupted. If everything is fine, great. If not, you will have to call, they will instruct over the phone. If it is the receiver, they should not charge considering it is a rental. $7.00+ a month.

Call Direct and tell them you will not pay for the service call. if they want to charge escalate to a supervisor, loyalty or winback. If they will not budge tell them there other options for your service and you will go to another company. If you have completed your two month commitment they should try hard to keep your business.
