Is it possible to dub onto a DVD recorder?

How do you dub from a VHS tape to a DVD/RW Disc on a Philips tape/DVD player-recorder?

  • I taped a show from Tivo to the VHS tape part of the tape/DVD/RW part of the Philips device. Now, I want to dub from VHS Tape to a DVVD /RW Disc. Nothing happens when I press the dubbing from Tape or dubbing to DVD. I did see a word (FORMAT) when I first loaded a new DVD/RW Disc into the Philips box.

  • Answer:

DVD-RW discs need to be formatted I believe. Check your manual if that's the case, and how to do it. I've only used DVD-R or DVD+R discs myself, which don't need formatting. Just pop one in, set the recording format (SP, LP, EP), pop in the tape, then hit the dubbing button. That's all there should be to it.
