Help with TiVo please?

Please Help - Is there any option to DVR or Tivo?????

  • I want to be able to record show with the simplicity of DVR or TIVO. Unfortunately, Comcast says that inorder to be eligable for DVR I must upgrade to there $62 per month package and pay another $12 per month for the DVR box. That's Outrageous! Do I have any other options?

  • Answer:

You can get a TiVo Series 2. A lot of times you can find them on sale with a rebate that essentially makes them free. If you don't already have a copy of Windows Media center a TiVo will be a cheaper option.

buy a Media Center PC, it might cost a bit at startup, but in the long run it will save you money. buy a cheap Dell on eBay, and upgrade the video card, hard drive ,and RAM, and buy a media Center suite (these can be had on eBay for about $10) and also a Media Center Remote. (around $25) I would reccomend getting a Dell Slimline Desktop, with 512 MB of RAM, and buy a 160GB or higher hard drive. this will make you life a lot easyer! and you dont have to pay the monthly service fee, and you dont' need to upgrade you current package! Good luck!

duey,i got directv and comcast but i have just basic cable on comcast becuz they offered me a deal with the internet but i paid 33 per month for 3 months to pay for my dvr from dtv.But i already had the platuim package so my bill went up about maybe 20 dollars but i'm still paying around 100 per month with 2 dtv dvr's and 3 regular boxes. They both have the same programming but i personally like dtv better becuz they have the nfl ticket and comcast does and dish sucks so u have to upgrade to something and don't listen to all them comcast commercials where they talk about when the wind blows,my satellite went out,the only time i've ever had problems was when it was storming or snow on the dish, other than that anything is better than comcast but then again,i hate dish also
