How to connect bose to my tv?

Help! Trying to connect DVD/VCR+Bose+SAT+DVR recorder to tv?

  • My aunt has a Toshiba big screen tv (no HD) with basic cable. She wants to connect to the tv * A satellite box (Dish) * A DVD/VCR combo (Toshiba) * A DVD recorder (Sony) * A Bose sound system My aunt purchased the DVD recorder last and before we tried to connect it to the tv, everything else (which had already been connected to the tv) worked perfectly. We attempted to follow the directions in the DVD rec. package, but each option the booklet offered produced nothing. She, her husband and I (and both our mothers!) have spent many a long night trying to figure out how to make this work. We are pretty sure it can be done, but we're not sure HOW to do it. Now all the connections have been put back to normal and our next try will be to disconnect everything and start from scratch. *Insert hair pulling here* If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

YIKES!!! Well, first of all, BOSE SUCKS! I had to say that. You would be much better served with a real surround sound receiver like a marantz or onkyo with some polk or klipsh speakers. Half the money and twice the sound quality. Bose is all marketing with half the sound quality and twice the headaches. I install million dollar plus whole home audio, video, and automation systems. Trust me! This would also allow you to hook all of your video to the surround sound and just one video wire to the TV. I can't give you a detailed layout without all of the model numbers off of every device including the TV. However, my best guess is that you are using a progressive scan DVD player on a non progressive scan TV. To fix this either move the switch on the back of the DVD player to interlace or hook it up to a progressive scan TV (capable of 480p) and turn off the progressive scan feature in the setup menu. This should be detailed in the user manual. The other most likely problem is that you are hooking two video cables to a single video input on the TV. This happens because some inputs may have multiple choices for wire type like both composite video (yellow) and S-Video. You can only use one or the other on that input. Hope this helps! No highs, no lows, it's bose! Good Luck! UPDATE: I'm sorry, I just can't help without knowing the model numbers. Yes, one of the SAT outputs needs to go to the DVD recorder input UNLESS you have an output on the TV then you could run everything to the TV and then out of the TV to the DVD recorder. This would allow you to record anything that is playing on the TV. This is probably your best bet, everything to the TV - video out to the DVD recorder - audio out to the (yuk) Bose.

Disconnect your DVD/VCR combo and insert the DVD burner. The burner should play and record. If not look for the aux jacks. They will route the proper signals to the head wish would be your dish box. The Bose speakers just stay as is. By the way good choice in speakers.
