Directv: Watch one show while recording another on a vcr (without using Directv's DVR)?

I remember with Cox we used to be able to use a simple coaxial splitter to be able to watch one program on tv, while recording different program through the vcr. Can this be done with directv as well?

Hello in order too do that u either need 2 receivers or a receiver with 2 tuners hope this helps!!!!!!!!!!!

No. If you use a regular splitter on a Directv system, none of it will work. If you have a Directv DVR, you ALREADY can watch one channel while recording another on the DVR. Just why are you wanting to record anything on a VCR?
